Ignacio Escuder Bueno, founding-partner of iPresas, new Chairman of SPANCOLD (Spanish National Committee on Large Dams) - 07/12/2017

Ignacio Escuder Bueno, founding partner of iPresas, has been designated new President of the Spanish National Committee on Large Dams (SPANCOLD). The election took place last October in Madrid.

SPANCOLD is the Spanish National Committee of the International Commission of Large Dams (ICOLD - CIGB).

The International Commission of Large Dams (ICOLD-CIGB), which has its headquarters in Paris, was created in 1928 with the aim of working for the benefit of society, contributing its knowledge for the contribution of Civil Engineering to the development and the improvement of the quality of life.

Five years later, in 1933, Spain joined the Commission. Since then, the Spanish National Committee of Large Dams (SPANCOLD) has been working within ICOLD. Spanish presidents have been elected as Chairmen of this organization: José Torán (1970-1973) and Luis Berga (2006- 2009).

Currently, ICOLD includes more than 90 countries and more than 7,000

The SPANCOLD Executive Committee of the Plenary is composed of the President, the Vice President, the General Secretary and four Members elected by the Plenary for a period of four years, renewable once.

The Executive Committee meets at least six times a year. Its main function is to coordinate the technical committees, which are integrated by SPANCOLD members.

Currently, SPANCOLD has 50 regular members and aprox. 400 collaborating members.
